Walpole High officially tabbed veteran Rebel coach Bill Tompkins to the athletic director position on Thursday. Tompkins, a Walpole High faculty member, has been the head coach of the Walpole baseball team for the last 31 years and is a member of the Massachusetts Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame. He also formerly coached the girls soccer program.

Tompkins replaces Jim Erker, who returned to the position on an interim basis after the resignation of football coach/athletic director Danny Villa. Read tomorrow’s Daily News Transcript for more details of Tompkins’ hiring.
