The Walpole Girls Softball Association, Inc. (WGSA) offers two softball programs:
Walpole Softball League (updated for 2011)
WGSA offers Spring and Summer softball through the Walpole Softball League. These programs are developmental in nature. The Spring season is open to girls in grades 2 – 8 (Grade 2 only will be instructional) and the Summer season is open to girls in grades 2 – 8. All girls that register on time are placed on a team and every girl plays. For more information, click on either the Softball League tab at the top of the page or the Softball League button in the left margin.
Softball is a team sport and part of being a good teammate is attendance, therefore we expect players to attend at least 75% of the games and practices.
GRADE 2 – INSTRUCTIONAL LEAGUE – NEW FOR 2011
EVERY WEDNESDAY AND SATURDAY STARTING APRIL 27
George Richardson and his daughter Edie from the FGSA (Franklin Girls Softball Association) will be the coordinator and coaches of the instructional League for us this year. We are very excited to bring George and his daughter and all there softball experience to the Walpole Softball League. We will have 12 sessions of instruction with various fundamentals taught. Parents will be able to volunteer and help George and Edie with teaching fundamental skills of softball.
Are you interested in playing softball but are not old enough to play in the recreational league. I have the perfect opportunity for you!
George Richardson and his daughter Edie will be running a Spring clinic just for girls in second grade to learn the basic fundamentals of softball in order to get them ready to play next year.
They will learn fielding, hitting, throwing and base running skills while having fun. The last session will be a game so that
you can apply the skills you have learned and ask any questions you may have about the game of softball. After this, you will be prepared to
play at the next level!
