Tough Upcoming Season For Cross Country Boys

From the WHSTheRebellion.com website:

This year, Walpole High’s Boys Cross Country team will most likely not  live up to the legacy that the preceding years have left behind. Boys’ soccer is only a few days in, and already, the expectations are high for another successful season. Gearing up for the 39th Annual Walpole Labor Day Road Race

A sure sign that summer is fading fast is that area runners are gearing up for the 39th Annual Walpole Labor Day Road Race. A staple in the area’s running calendar, the Sept. 3 race serves as a fundraiser for the cross country and track programs at Walpole High. Kevin Butera, the Rebels’ boys indoor and outdoor track coach and member of the Walpole Labor Day Road Race Committee, said that last year’s race raised about $20,000, which was used to pay assistant coaches, new equipment and new uniforms.

MIAA proposals on the table

Every two years the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association considers new rule change proposals that can affect individual sports or statewide policy. Anyone is allowed to submit a proposal, and this time around there are a number of them that have been submitted by parents concerning issues ranging from making it possible to participate in the school of their hometown while attending a school that does not offer that sport,  to creating a review committee that would oversee plays that resulted in serious bodily harm.
