    Question & Answers
Why no camps for Boys? – For the past 3 years we have tried to have a Boys section of the camp – but sign-ups were so low that we had to cancel those sections & give refunds. So I am not going to try it again. But if you really want a Boys section – in any 2 grade section – we can do it – we just need you or someone on the boys side to organize a minimum of 8 boys in any 2 grade combination, [3/4, 4/5, 5/6, 6/7, 7/8] and we can make it happen. If you want to try to help organize this for your player or team – please let Mark Gallivan know at mgallivan@walpolesoccer.org

Walpole Girls’ Softball Association gets new look

Read the entire article on the Wicked Local Walpole website:

Lacrosse still may be the fastest growing girls’ sport in Walpole, but it also is still getting healthy competition from old standby softball.
That could become even more significant with new developments both in the Walpole Girls Softball Association’s ranks and on WGSA’s fields, especially at Bird School.
Thanks to hard work both on the fundraising and constructing side of things, almost overnight the field at Bird School has become nearly state of the art, with a batting cage joining the pitching cage along right field, a press box and announcer’s booth going up behind home plate, and a beautiful new scoreboard standing behind left field.
Thanks to donations, fund raising and the willingness of members to roll up their sleeves, costs were handled totally by the organization, with the town having to pay nothing.
“This will be fantastic for the years to come,” offers WGSA’s first-year president, Bruce Cochrane. “We’ll have an intercom system for championship games, and both the younger kids and the high school …

Lamorte’s first trick helps handle Sharon, 17-1 in boys’ lax tourney opener

    michaelwhitevssharon.jpg

       They were dropping like flies.
Before the Walpole High boys’ lacrosse team hosted Sharon in the MIAA state tourney opener Tuesday, they discovered that one of their top scorers, attack Adam Niden, was unable to play because he needed an aspirin earlier and was sent home as per school policy.
Midfielder John O’Brien, an excellent face-off man, was out of action because of a shoulder injury. Before halftime, junior sniper Kyle Guilbert, who really was ailing, had his knees finally buckle from under him and was out for the rest of the game, and senior middy Marcanthony Koukoulas was sidelined by an ankle injury.
There was finally a chance for Sharon to get a reprieve, but there was none. In a rare opportunity, the Bay State League champion Rebels were able to display what kind of depth they really had, and it was frightening to the rest of the tourney field. By the end of the third, a medically challenged Walpole High …

    WHS tourney schedule changes

Read the entire article on the Wicked Local Walpole website:

The rainy week has been causing postponements galore in MIAA scheduling, and Walpole High has not been spared. However, it’s not so bad.

The Rebel boys’ tennis team, which was scheduled to play at 2:00 today in Hingham will still go on as scheduled, just not at Hingham High. The first-round opponents were able to secure indoor facilities to complete their mission, and are now slated to play each other at the South Shore YMCA, in Hanover.

There is also one other change, not weather-related. After beating archrival Norwood, 2-0 yesterday, the WHS baseball team was scheduled to play North Quincy on Adams Field along the Furnace Brook Parkway at 2:00 Saturday afternoon. However, Walpole High was able to get the game pushed back to 3:00, so it will be starting an hour later than earlier schedules had it.

Also in scheduling, the boys’ lacrosse team is still hosting Falmouth at Turco Field today at 2:30, and the girls’ tennis team will be heading to Falmouth Sunday for a 2:00 first-round tilt. Following its thrilling 5-4 win over Franklin to open the tourney yesterday, Walpole High’s softball team …

WHS laxmen start tourney run this Tuesday at home

Read the entire article on the Wicked Local Walpole website:

One has to feel for the Sharon High boys’ lacrosse team. After fighting all season to get into the state tourney, the Eagles now find themselves having to come to Walpole’s Turco Field this coming Tuesday afternoon (4:00pm) to take on a powerful second-seeded team that only has one loss.

Making it even tougher for the 9-9 Eagles, who had to beat King Philip in double-overtime to get in, is that they’re coming to the home field of a team on a major mission. Last year the Rebels reached the East Division 2 final against Medfield, losing a tight 10-5 game to the team that eventually beat Longmeadow for the Div. 2 state title. This year they picked up without missing a beat, their only loss an 8-7 nail-biter at home against St. John’s Prep in which they led up until the final couple of minutes.

In order to gain a rematch with unbeaten Medfield the Rebels have to get through everyone on their side of the bracket, beginning with Sharon. Again, one has to feel sorry for the Eagles.

       When Walpole’s season began …

Playoff Round 1: U15 Rebels stamped Mustangs

From the Friday Night Lights Lacrosse website:

In the first game of the playoffs, Walpole’s U15 Rebels send Norwood’s Mustangs back to the corral. Walpole’s goalie, Andrew Blood, stepped up to his best effort of the season, seeing the ball well and holding off Norwood’s deadly offense to ensure the win, 10-4.

Rebel laxwomen start tourney Wednesday at home

Read the entire article on the Wicked Local Walpole website:

After a very surprising regular season, in which they finished 13-5-1, the Walpole High girls’ lacrosse team discovered they have made history twice.

First of all, they ended with the most regular-season wins ever by a WHS girls’ team with 13 – and a first-round win would give them the most one-season victories in team history – and second they have grabbed their first home game ever in the MIAA state tourney.

With pairings coming out today, the Rebels find themselves seeded eighth in Division 2, set to host ninth-seeded Hingham Wednesday at Turco Field. The Harborwomen come into the tourney at 14-6, with their most impressive victory a 19-7 domination of Mansfield, a 15-2 entity, earlier in the year. More recently the Harborwomen faced unbeaten Bay State Conference champion Wellesley, losing to the Raiders 20-8. They also finished their season with a 13-7 loss to Mansfield in the rematch.

Wellesley is the only common foe for the two first-round opponents, with each doing equally well agaisnt the top-ranked Bay State Herget power. The only other ranked team the Harborwomen have played is Duxbury …
